Feminist rambles

Many guys use feminism as an excuse to get out of being chivalrous: "Oh, I didn't pay the bill/buy your ticket/open the car door for you because I thought it would make you feel less equal."
Umm... no, that's not called inequality, it's called being polite. I consider myself a pretty strong and capable female and I would not feel compromised if a guy decided he wanted to pay for something or open the door and let me walk through first.
I've taken it upon myself to make guys feel uncomfortable whenever they cut past me and don't let me walk through a door/don't hold open a door for me - as the guy walks through and is in front of me I say "go ahead, ladies first right?"
Demasculinating and embarassing for him, satisfying and malevolent for me.

Also, why is it acceptable that guys can hook up with a multitude of girls and be considered a "man" whereas if a girl does that she's considered a "slut"?
I have this friend, let's call her Ginger. Ginger is a tall, red-head who just so happens to be very good looking. She's got a great figure (sans cleavage - but hey, you can't have it all), a effervescent personality, and the generosity of Mother Theresa. Yet the majority of my school hates her. Why?
Well, the girls hate her because they think she's a slut, because she gets with guys they like. Guys that they're incapable of hooking up with.
And guys hate her because they think she's a slut - oh but wait, they'll sweet talk her and hang out with her because then they can satisfy their petty hormonal urges, but once they're through they'll actually bitch about her even more than girls do.
I actually overheard two guys saying "Oh yeah Ginger, she's so fucking annoying and wont leave me alone, she's all over me." "Dude, that girl's such a slut." (Something along those lines anyway).

I'm not saying it's okay for girls or guys to prostitute themselves for attention (not that I don't like Ginger as a friend, she's a lovely girl - I just don't necessarily agree with all her ways), I'm saying that if guys want to preach equality and blame feminism, they should do it all round instead of just claiming what's convenient for them.
A whore is a whore, be the person he or she.

Sorry for the lack of cohesion, it's 2 in the morning (3 if you don't count daylight savings) and I'm tired as fuck.

Sweet dreams
- feminist seeking real equality with a side of chivalry still intact.

This is interesting.
My mum is a real feminist. She refused to change her maiden name (suggested dad change his instead) and then decided that while the first child would have the last name Fields, the second would get Henderson (only reason this never happened was because my grandad kicked up a fuss about not having a Fields as the first son of his first son). She also tried to persuade me not to shave my armpits because it serves no real purpose other than to comply with societal convention; men don't shave their armpits, so why should a woman. And a man who gets put off by a bit of fluff isn't worth having.
I still shave my armpits...
Mum is really anti-chivalry though. She says that if we want equality we have to start acting like equals, and not expect things to be done for us.
So, by all means, let your bf take you out to the movies. But next time, you take him out. If he opens the door for you, return the favour.
Maybe you'll shake him up a bit. But surely it can't hurt to try. Don't expect men to be politely chivalrous unless you are prepared to be in return.

I guess it's too much to want equality and chivalry. The weak "classically feminine" side of me wants to be looked after so bad whereas the stronger, more independent side wants me to be able to stand on my own two feet.
I don't feel equality is or has ever been established fully, but nor is it ever going to happen because quite frankly, girls enjoy being treated well - perhaps it's even in our "nature" but being the hypocrite that I am, I think I might just still complain about it.

LOL that's not true, we shave because it feeeels better D:

but yeah I was going to point out like anna said that feminists don't want guys doing things for them...n.n;

aaaaand that's why same-sex marriage is so much better rofl XD we don't have to change our last names (that would be confusing XD;), and there's no just one guy/girl (physically) so there's no need to stick to those roles :P

umm yeah there's my worthless two cents lol

haha it's not worthless but idk... I think being in a heterosexual relationship is like... "fitting" somewhere, having a role to fulfill.
